I Left Behind the Ocean

2 min readOct 22, 2022

I left behind the ocean.

Why leave something so relaxing?

Back to a life running in circles seeking who I am?

Searching for forever, yet unable to find him.

In the land where palm trees sway, I didn’t have to.

I let him do his thing as he did mine.

I feel like I’m always searching, for what? Everything.

Looking at the bottom of Blue Hawaii’s,

if I have enough, it seems alright.

I barely drink.

It gave me an escape when before I was forced to think.

By sea breeze and palm trees, I’ve always wanted to be.

Why? Because I feel free.

What’s it mean to be so when you’re your own worst enemy?

You can’t escape yourself, and you don’t have to.

You’re not your mind, even if it’s racing all the time.

They ask if you’re okay; you don’t know what to say.

With a million things on your plate,

which story to serve them?

Smile and act like it’s good,

or be honest and turn them away?

What will they think? What will they say?

I want to live for today,

but tomorrow never seems to go away.

Two steps forward, one step back,

we discover what we’re meant to — our path.

This is usually the part where I’m supposed to promote myself. I’m just glad this found you because I believe for whatever reason it was destined to. If you’d like to check out my other work, follow, share, or even tip that’s completely up to you. I promise we can still be friends either way :) Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoyed my words!
