The Sun That Never Sets

The metallic sphere suspended in midair over a pond connects the world. Asia, Africa, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and America watch her in anticipation as if she’d rise or set like the sun. Her silver scales glisten during the day, and she lights up the world at night. Indeed, an incredible sight. The EPCOT Ball. Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. A man’s vision that he never saw. He forever sits outside with steadied eyes on the horizon. Imagination came alive. It’s hard to ignore a structure of such geometrical precision and beauty. She welcomes everyone and invites them to find the connection that brings us all full circle. Together. The Symphony of Us.

How can something so simple be so captivating? Her reflection dances off the water around the World Showcase. Fireworks and streams of water fly and make her come alive telling the story of humanity. Her beauty is not skin deep. One can climb aboard and let her take them through time, from the mammoths to the enlightenment of man. Spaceship Earth. It seems as if someday she will blast off back to the futuristic galaxy she came from with our story. We created her. A monument that would stand the test of time. Something that we thought beyond our capabilities. One look at her and your smile brightens; colors do the same. So caught in the routine of life, she reminds us that we are capable of so much more than we think if we use our creator’s greatest gift. Imagination. A sight for sore eyes, a must-see, the sun that never sets over the happiest place on Earth — Disney.

I had the pleasure to work the World Showcase the other day at American Adventure and after all the guests left it was just me and the EPCOT Ball. I saw the light reflect in the water and it reminded me of a sunset except the ball never moves. It doesn’t even spin. It is so surreal, and I hope each and every one of you have the opportunity to see it and the other Worlds at EPCOT. The Symphony of Us is the name of the fireworks show they do there. I can’t take credit for that as much as I want to.

This is usually the part where I’m supposed to promote myself. I’m just glad this found you because I believe for whatever reason, it was destined to. If you’d like to check out my other work, follow, comment, or share, that’s entirely up to you. I promise we can still be friends either way :) Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoyed my words!
